Wimbledon's hallowed grass courts are set to welcome the world's top tennis players, and Brazil will be represented by João Fonseca and Bia Haddad Maia in the singles draws. This marks Fonseca's professional debut at Wimbledon.

João Fonseca's Wimbledon Challenge

Currently ranked 57th in the world, João Fonseca will face Britain's Jacob Fearnley (ranked 51st) in his opening match. The two players have met twice this year, with Fonseca emerging victorious in both encounters at the Canberra Challenger and the Indian Wells Masters 1000.

If Fonseca defeats Fearnley, he will advance to face the winner of the match between Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands (ranked 34th) and Jenson Brooksby of the United States (ranked 149th) in the second round. Potential future opponents include Holger Rune (8th) and Carlos Alcaraz (2nd).

Bia Haddad Maia's Wimbledon Journey

Bia Haddad Maia, Brazil's leading female tennis player and currently ranked 21st in the world, will face Slovakia's Rebecca Sramkova (ranked 36th) in the first round. Haddad Maia holds a 4-2 advantage in their head-to-head record, although Sramkova won their most recent encounter in straight sets in late February.

Should Haddad Maia advance, she would be favored in the second round against either Britain's Harriet Dart (124th) or Hungary's Dalma Galfi (112th).

Fonseca's journey to Wimbledon included reaching the round of 16 at the ATP Eastbourne 250, a grass-court warm-up tournament. With both Fonseca and Haddad Maia in action, Brazilian tennis fans have plenty to cheer for at this year's Wimbledon Championships.
