Jonathan Drouin is making headlines! The Quebec native has signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the New York Islanders, reuniting him with coach Patrick Roy. This translates to an average annual value of $4 million for Drouin.

After a strong resurgence with the Colorado Avalanche over the past two seasons, where he tallied 30 goals and 93 points in 122 games, Drouin is poised to make a significant impact on Long Island. The $4 million annual salary marks a considerable raise for the 30-year-old forward, who earned $2.5 million last season.

Drouin, a former 3rd overall pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2013, brings a wealth of experience to the Islanders. In his 11-year NHL career, he has amassed 107 goals and 267 assists for a total of 374 points in 607 games. He previously played a significant portion of his career with the Montreal Canadiens.

Last season, Drouin showcased his offensive prowess, scoring 11 goals and adding 37 assists, achieving a career-best 0.86 points per game. Before turning pro, Drouin dominated the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads alongside his friend Nathan MacKinnon, racking up an impressive 242 points in 128 games.

Islanders Re-Sign DeAngelo

In other news, the New York Islanders have also retained defenseman Tony DeAngelo, inking him to a one-year, $1.75 million contract. DeAngelo, 29, joined the Islanders last season after leaving CSKA Saint Petersburg in the KHL. He recorded 4 goals and 15 assists in 35 games with the team.

Rittich Joins the Islanders

The Islanders have also added goaltender David Rittich.
