Jessica Biel's BIG News: Wine Label & True Crime Series!
Jessica Biel is making headlines with two exciting new ventures! From family celebrations inspiring a wine label to executive producing a true crime docuseries, Biel is expanding her creative horizons.
Prophet & Poet: A Wine Born from Family Love
Biel recently co-founded Prophet & Poet, a new wine label with her brother and sister-in-law, Justin and Rose Biel, winemaker Jesse Katz, and Chris and Ariel Jackson. The idea blossomed from a unique wedding gift Jessica gave her brother Justin and his wife Rose back in 2018. Katz crafted a special blend for their nuptials in Mexico.
“This is a passion project between my brother, my sister-in-law, myself, and our very good friends," Biel shared with PEOPLE. Katz had also created a special wine for Jessica's own wedding to Justin Timberlake in 2012.
The actress explained the sentimental value of gifting wine, stating, “...you're sharing that wine during the actual event, you're putting it in your cellar... And every time you open up a bottle, or share a bottle with friends and family down throughout the years, it kind of brings that moment alive again.”
Fatal Destination: Diving into True Crime
On a completely different note, Jessica Biel is also venturing into the world of true crime as an executive producer and narrator. Her new series, Fatal Destination, is now streaming on HBO Max.
The Investigation Discovery series explores exotic locations where being a tourist turns into a nightmare. The stories are told through first-person accounts from friends, family, locals, journalists, and law enforcement.
One particularly chilling episode, “Blood on Bourbon Street,” examines the 2003 murder of Shawn Johnson in New Orleans. The case involves bizarre circumstances, including a blood-filled hot tub and ritualistic elements. Detectives delve into the city's subcultures, uncovering themes of identity, manipulation, and ritualistic violence.
“I have always been fascinated by the complexities behind true crime,” Biel stated. “While I have performed in several scripted crime series, Fatal Destination marks my first foray into executive producing unscripted true crime content...”
