Massive Recall: Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Pulled From Shelves!
A nationwide recall has been issued for Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon due to potential Listeria contamination, the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Wednesday. Over 367,000 pounds of the ready-to-eat product are affected, raising concerns for consumers across the United States, British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong where the product was distributed.
The recall, voluntarily initiated by Kraft Heinz Foods Company, involves specific 12-ounce vacuum-packed packages of "Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL" bearing the UPC "071871548601". The "use by" dates printed on the packaging range from July 18, 2025, to Aug. 2, 2025, and include specific lot codes. Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators immediately.
What is Listeria and Why is it Dangerous?
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. In pregnant women, listeriosis can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, or life-threatening infection of the newborn.
What To Do If You Have Recalled Bacon
The FSIS urges consumers who have purchased the recalled Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon not to consume it. The product should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
"Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider," the FSIS stated. While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions as of the time of publication, Kraft Heinz is taking the situation very seriously. In an emailed statement, a representative for Kraft Heinz told ABC News that they are actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove the potentially impacted product from circulation.
“Nothing matters more to us than the safety of our products and the well-being of the families who trust them,” the statement read.
