Teddi Mellencamp, former star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, has finally addressed long-standing rumors of an affair with her horse trainer, Simon Schroeder. In a deeply personal interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, Mellencamp broke her silence, admitting to actions that hurt others and even questioning if her cancer diagnosis was a form of retribution.
“I've never talked about it at all, just because of the kids,” Mellencamp, 44, revealed. “I've never wanted anybody to have a guarantee whether it happened or didn't happen, but what I can say is, did I do things that hurt other people? Yes.” The alleged affair with Schroeder reportedly circulated in the news at the end of 2024.
Did Mellencamp's Actions Lead to Her Cancer Diagnosis?
In a particularly emotional moment, Mellencamp tearfully wondered if there was a connection between the affair and her health struggles. “To this day, does it still hurt my heart and I wonder if that's why it got cancer? Yes, like it was my payback,” she confessed. She further stated, “nothing goes without payment.”
Mellencamp also spoke about the widespread media coverage surrounding the rumors and the impact on everyone involved. “You're trying to minimize everybody's pain. You end up maximizing it. Because now not only do you have yourself, you have your significant other, your kids, the other person's significant other, their kids.”
Divorces and Cancer Battle
Both Mellencamp and Schroeder filed for divorce in late 2024. Mellencamp filed for divorce from Edwin Arroyave on November 1, 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. However, the proceedings were put on hold after her brain cancer diagnosis in February. Arroyave has remained a supportive presence throughout her cancer battle.
