Pilot Dies in Lanseria Plane Crash: Passenger Seriously Injured

Tragedy struck shortly after takeoff at Lanseria International Airport near Johannesburg, as a Cessna 210 aircraft crashed, resulting in the death of the pilot. The incident occurred on Thursday, prompting a swift response from emergency services and aviation authorities.
According to the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), the aircraft went down within the confines of the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve, located near the airport. The destination of the ill-fated flight remains unknown at this time.
SACAA spokesperson Sisa Majola confirmed the presence of a passenger on board the aircraft. The passenger sustained serious injuries and was promptly airlifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Investigation Underway
The SACAA's accident and incident division has dispatched a team of investigators to the crash site to determine the cause of the accident. A preliminary report is expected to be published on the SACAA website within 30 days of the incident.
“AID has dispatched investigators to the site,” Majola stated. “A preliminary report will be published on the SACAA website in 30 days from the date of this accident.”
