Jetour T1 & T2 SUVs Land in SA! Are These the New Kings of the Road?
Get ready, South Africa! Jetour is shaking up the local automotive scene with the arrival of its rugged T1 and T2 SUVs in October 2025. These all-wheel-drive contenders promise to bring a fresh blend of style, capability, and value to the market.
Jetour T-Series: A Rugged Revolution
Jetour, a sub-brand of Chinese automotive giant Chery Holding Group, is making a bold statement with its independent operation, complete with its own parts warehouse and national dealer network. Unlike its sister brands Omoda and Jaecoo, Jetour is carving its own path, and the T1 and T2 are leading the charge.
Both SUVs boast a distinctive boxy design and share a common platform, engine options, and drivetrain. However, the T2 offers a slightly larger footprint and enhanced off-road prowess.
T1 vs. T2: What's the Difference?
- Size: The T1, at 4,705mm long, is positioned to compete with the likes of the Renault Duster. The T2, stretching to 4,785mm, sets its sights on rivals like the GWM Tank 300 and BAIC B40.
- Off-Road Capability: While both offer all-wheel drive with an intelligent X Wheel Drive system, the T2 is geared for more adventurous terrain with a higher 220mm ground clearance (compared to the T1's 190mm) and a dedicated creeping mode.
- Focus: The T1 is designed to be more city-focused, while the T2 is built for tackling tougher terrain.
Power and Performance
While official South African specs are still under wraps, overseas models offer a choice of two turbo-petrol engines: a 135kW/290Nm 1.5-litre paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a more potent 187kW/390Nm 2.0-litre with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.
Tech-Savvy Interiors
Expect feature-rich cabins with 10.25-inch digital instrumentation, 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment systems with smartphone mirroring, and dual-zone climate control. Higher-spec models may also include premium audio systems, wireless charging, and heated/ventilated front seats.
SA Launch and Availability
South Africa is set to be the first right-hand drive market to receive the Jetour T-Series. The T1 and T2 are scheduled to arrive in October 2025, and pre-orders are already open. Keep an eye out for local pricing and specifications announcements soon!
