Comrades Marathon Runner Found After Disappearance: SAPS Investigates
DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal Police Service (SAPS) are investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and subsequent discovery of Comrades Marathon runner, Moira Harding. The Cape Town resident went missing shortly after crossing the finish line of the Comrades Marathon at Durban's Moses Mabhida Peoples Park on Sunday.
Harding's family initiated a search when they noticed she was unwell after completing the race. The Comrades Marathon Association joined in the search efforts.
On Monday morning, Harding was found in critical condition on Durban's Mahatma Gandhi Road. Medical personnel stabilised her before she was airlifted to hospital for further treatment.
KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda confirmed that the police are working to determine the events leading up to Harding's disappearance and condition. "The woman was found on Monday morning after an intensive search by police's search and rescue officers, working with other law enforcement and private entities," Netshiunda stated. "She was found in the Point area."
While Harding was found with no visible injuries, police are awaiting a medical report to determine the next course of action in their investigation. The investigation seeks to uncover the details of how she went missing and the cause of her critical condition.

The Comrades Marathon Association has yet to release a formal statement, but sources suggest they are cooperating fully with the SAPS investigation. Their involvement in the initial search demonstrates their commitment to the well-being of all runners participating in the event.
