BMW South Africa is turning back the clock! The iconic BMW 325iS, affectionately known as “Gusheshe”, is getting a modern tribute in the form of the BMW 325iS Homage Edition. While it’s 2025, BMW is partying like it’s 1990, celebrating this legendary South African car.
Interestingly, this E30 tribute isn't based on the modern 3 Series, but on the smaller 2 Series Coupe. Don't worry, though – today's 2 Series is still significantly larger than the second-generation 3 Series.
Starting with an M240i xDrive as its foundation, the Homage Edition receives a host of retro-inspired touches. The original's signature double rear spoiler is reimagined with M Performance Parts for the boot lid and upper rear glass. Black door handles also pay tribute to the classic 325iS, and the M Performance wheels feature a design inspired by the heritage of the original. While the resemblance might be subtle, the alloys definitely give this M240i a unique look.
Further enhancements include the M Sport Pro Package and a carbon fiber front splitter. Buyers can choose from Fire Red, Skyscraper Grey, Sapphire Black, or Mineral White paint finishes. Inside, the nostalgic theme continues with an armrest wrapped in Überkaro tartan, a subtle nod to the Anthracite cloth upholstery of the original 325iS. A commemorative plaque completes the transformation.
Unlike the original 325iS, which received mechanical upgrades, this homage focuses on visual enhancements. The 325iS Homage Edition retains the turbocharged inline-six engine, delivering a powerful 382 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The B58 engine sends power to all four wheels via the xDrive system.
