Comrades Marathon Runner Found: Police Investigate Disappearance

DURBAN – KwaZulu-Natal police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and subsequent discovery of Comrades Marathon runner, Moira Harding, a Cape Town resident. Harding went missing shortly after crossing the finish line at Durban's Moses Mabhida Peoples Park on Sunday, prompting a frantic search by her family and the Comrades Marathon Association.
Family members noticed Harding appeared unwell immediately after finishing the race, leading to the immediate launch of a search party. The search continued throughout the night and into Monday morning.
According to KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda, Harding was found in a critical condition on Durban's Mahatma Gandhi Road on Monday morning following an intensive search. The search involved police search and rescue officers, other law enforcement agencies, and private entities.
"The woman was found on Monday morning after an intensive search... She was found in the Point area," Netshiunda stated.
Harding is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital. While she was found with no immediately visible injuries, police are awaiting a full medical report to determine the next steps in their investigation. The SAPS is working to establish the sequence of events that led to her disappearance and the circumstances surrounding her being found in a critical state.
