Carl Safina & Caroline Sutton: A Meeting of Naturalist Minds

This Saturday, delve into the wonders of the natural world as pre-eminent Long Island ecologist Carl Safina interviews Caroline Sutton about her new essay collection, "Eyes in the Soles of My Feet." The event takes place at BookHampton in East Hampton at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Stony Brook Southampton MFA Open House & Reading

On Tuesday, Stony Brook Southampton's MFA program in creative writing welcomes aspiring writers to an open house at Chancellors Hall from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Meet faculty, learn about classes, admission, and financial aid, and chat with current students. Afterwards, enjoy a Writers Speak reading in the Rakoff Studio featuring faculty member Molly Gaudry, alum Hudson Hess, and student Claire Jentsch. Pratt Fine Arts MFA Open Studios/Open Fields: An Artist Resource Fair

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12–8pm, Pratt Fine Arts’ MFA program at Dock 72 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard hosts Open Studios/Open Fields, a dynamic event connecting artistic production with the support networks that sustain it. Explore MFA studios, engage with artists, and connect with organizations dedicated to supporting creative practice.

What to Expect:

  • Open Studios: Experience works in progress and meet MFA artists in their studios.
  • Open Fields: An Artist Resource Fair: Connect with nonprofit organizations from NYC and beyond, including residencies, grant-making foundations, and alternative exhibition venues.

Panel discussions on sustaining artistic careers and well-being will also be held. Participating organizations include Artadia, Center for Urban Pedagogy, and more. This event is free and open to the public with Eventbrite registration.
