  • Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 4 November 2025
  • Disability Grant: Wednesday, 5 November 2025

Please remember that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is paid in batches and not on the same day as other grants. Keep an eye on your application status for updates.

Important Biometric Enrolment Reminder

SASSA is also reminding all new grant applicants about the mandatory biometric enrolment process. This is being implemented to help prevent fraud. Since 1 September, all new applications require a fingerprint or facial scan. Over 40,000 beneficiaries have already completed biometric enrolment, ensuring a safer and more secure system.

Social grant recipients will receive a standard R10 increase in October 2025. There were rumors of larger bonuses, but the government has clarified that only the standard yearly increase will be applied across all grant types. Here's a breakdown of the increases:

  • People aged 60 to 74: R3,230 (up from R2180 - *Note: Discrepancy in original article, should be R3,230 instead of R2180*)
  • Those 75 and older: R3,250 (up from R2,200)
  • People with disabilities and those needing care support: R3,230 (up from R2,180 - *Note: Discrepancy in original article, should be R3,230 instead of R2180*)
  • Foster parents: R1,230 per child (up from R1180)
  • Child support payment: R550 (up from R530)

These amounts already include the standard increase. The extra money is for current SASSA grant recipients who are at least 60 years old, legally residing in South Africa, and meet the income and asset requirements. New applicants are not eligible for this specific increase.
