Bangladesh's Rishad Hossain etched his name in cricketing history, becoming only the second leg-break bowler ever to claim the first five wickets of a side in an ODI. This remarkable achievement came against the West Indies, as he defended a target of 207 in the first ODI of their three-match series. His career-best six-wicket haul played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's dominant victory, bowling out the visitors for a mere 133.

Hossain Defends the Dhaka Pitch
Despite the criticism, Rishad Hossain staunchly defended the pitch, asserting that it presented the same challenges and opportunities for both teams. He stated, "The [Dhaka] wicket was the same for both teams. We have encountered an even worse pitch in Guyana. We adjusted to those conditions. It was the same for both sides."
He further elaborated on Bangladesh's approach, saying, "Our batters could read the wicket better. They figured out that if they start slowly, they can finish well with wickets in hand. I think they were just carrying out their plans to the best of their ability.”
All-Round Contribution
The 23-year-old Rishad, with 50 T20Is and 12 ODIs under his belt, emphasized his commitment to contributing in all facets of the game. "I stuck to my process. I had to adjust in the first couple of overs, but then I could make up quickly. I always try to contribute in all three departments. I believe that Allah will always find me a way to do something for the team,” he said.
Adding to his bowling heroics, Rishad also chipped in with a valuable 26 runs off just 13 balls, showcasing his desire to provide that extra edge for his team.
