New R600 Million Shopping Centre Opens in Kyalami!
Kyalami residents rejoice! The brand new Mushroom Farm Shopping Centre, valued at a whopping R600 million, has officially opened its doors. Developed by Century Property Development, this 27,000m2 centre pays tribute to the area's history, built on the site of a former working mushroom farm near the original Waterval Farm.
The centre's design, influenced by local feedback, aims to be a vibrant social and lifestyle hub. The central community plaza, prominently situated on the highest point of the neighbourhood, features medical and office suites on the first floor and retail and restaurant terraces on the ground floor. A second phase of development is already planned for 2026, promising even more exciting additions.
Anchored by a massive 9,000m2 Checkers Hyper and a 1,300m2 Dis-Chem, the Mushroom Farm Shopping Centre boasts a diverse range of retailers including WW Edit, Pick n Pay Clothing, Miladys, Contempo, Kingsmead Shoes, @Home, Dial-a-Bed, Mr Price Home, and PEP Home. Architects BAR Architects and construction company Archstone Construction have created a stunning space using natural textures and farm-style materials, resulting in a warm and modern aesthetic. The interiors feature exposed brick, Japanese cedar panelling (reminiscent of a mushroom cap!), and plenty of natural light.
Construction began in September 2024 and was completed on schedule in October 2025. The Mushroom Farm Shopping Centre is set to become a central hub for the Kyalami-Waterfall node, offering a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience for the community.
