Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are fired up and ready for their next Hollywoodbets Super League challenge! They're set to host the University of Johannesburg (UJ) this Wednesday afternoon at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. After a massive 7-0 victory over Durban Ladies, the Brazilians are hungry to keep their winning streak going, aiming for their 12th consecutive win.
However, they're not underestimating UJ. Defender Thato Letsoso, who used to play for UJ, knows they're a tough and well-organised team. She says the team is focused on continuous improvement. "We always feel like there is room for improvement, and that keeps us grounded," Letsoso explains. "Even when we win convincingly, we look at the match again and analyze what we could have done better."
The team’s focus isn’t just on individual games. Letsoso emphasized the team’s long-term goals, stating, “The team has clear goals and objectives, and those goals ensure we do not lose focus. Every session and every match is linked to what we want to achieve as a collective."
Midfielder Katleho Malebana also chimed in, explaining how the team is managing their confidence after the big win. "The 7–0 victory definitely lifted the spirits of the group. But as a team, we have spoken openly about staying humble and level-headed. Confidence is good, but it must be controlled."
Tactical Challenges Ahead
Malebana highlighted the tactical challenges UJ presents. "UJ is a very organised side, and they do not give you many chances. So the focus is to approach this match with a fresh mindset, understanding that what happened last weekend does not automatically carry into this one."
Key to Success: Consistency
Letsoso believes consistency is key. "We treat each game like a cup final because we understand that consistency is the difference between a good team and a great one. That mentality has carried us through tough fixtures, and it will continue to guide us.” Will Sundowns Ladies continue their dominant run? Tune in to find out!
