Johannesburg – The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has officially kicked off Filing Season 2025, and Commissioner Edward Kieswetter is urging all taxpayers to embrace digital platforms for a smoother, more convenient experience. Forget braving the winter chill and long queues; SARS is making it easier than ever to manage your tax affairs from the comfort of your own home.

Go Digital, Avoid the Queues

"Taxpayers do not have to expose themselves to the elements in this cold weather and stand in queues. They can conduct their tax affairs in the comfort of their homes rather than pay taxi fares," Kieswetter stated during a recent visit to the Alberton Taxpayer Service Centre.

Minister of Finance Endorses SARS Readiness

Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, also expressed his satisfaction with SARS's preparedness for Filing Season 2025. He emphasized the commitment to delivering a seamless and user-friendly experience for all taxpayers.

Key Highlights for Filing Season 2025:

  • Auto-Assessments: SARS has already begun issuing Auto-Assessments to taxpayers with less complex tax affairs. If you agree with your assessment, no action is required. Acceptance is automatic!
  • Digital First: SARS strongly encourages taxpayers to use eFiling or the SARS MobiApp. These platforms offer a secure and efficient way to submit your returns and manage your tax information.
  • No Need to Visit a Branch (Unless Necessary): Avoid long queues by managing your tax affairs online. If a visit is unavoidable, book an appointment beforehand.
  • Refunds Under R100: Refunds less than R100 will be automatically paid into your bank account within 72 hours of assessment completion.

Filing Season 2025 is now open for non-provisional and some provisional taxpayers who were not auto-assessed. Don't delay, file your return online today and avoid unnecessary stress!

Remember to keep your registered details up-to-date with SARS, including your email address, banking information, and cellphone number. This will ensure you receive important notifications and updates regarding your tax affairs.
