UD Las Palmas' new manager, Luis García Fernández, is making waves in pre-season training! Ahead of their friendly clash against South African champions Orlando Pirates, García has been spotted using a rather unusual training aid: a 'luchoandamio' – essentially, a scaffolding platform.
García's Unique Perspective
The Asturian coach, who took over at Las Palmas, is using the elevated platform to get a better view of his players' movements and formations. This isn't entirely new; other coaches like Paco López and Marcelino have used similar methods. However, García seems to be taking inspiration from fellow Asturian Luis Enrique, who famously used scaffolding, even upgrading it with a screen during his time as the Spanish national team coach.
The club even posted a photo of García on the platform, with the caption: "To see the team's growth, you need to look at it from all perspectives." It's clear that García is keen to implement a tactical vision and is using every tool at his disposal to do so.
