Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune is urging Amakhosi fans to chill and give the new signings some time to gel! After the Toyota Cup defeat to Asante Kotoko, Khune stepped up to defend striker Flavio Silva, who's been catching some flak for not scoring in the pre-season.
Khune's Got Silva's Back
Khune acknowledged the pressure on Silva but emphasised that he needs a fair chance. "We need to give Silva a fair turn," Khune said. "We only just debate him in the first games that we’ve seen him play, but he’s definitely going to show us what he can bring to South African football.”
The veteran keeper understands that strikers thrive on confidence and that Silva is still adapting to a new environment, new teammates, and a different style of football. Khune’s message to the fans? “Let’s back him!”
New Signings Bring Winning Mentality
Khune also praised other new additions like Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane, highlighting their winning mentality from their time at Orlando Pirates. He also mentioned Tebogo Potsane, Edson Castillo, Shinga, and Luke Chislett as players who are making a positive impact.

Despite the Toyota Cup loss, Khune remains optimistic about the upcoming DStv Premiership season. He believes the team has the potential to bounce back and make a strong start. “This is a process,” Khune concluded. “The badge deserves success, and with unity between the fans, players, and management, I believe we can bring the glory days back to Naturena.”
