Lake Tahoe Traffic Alert! Plus: Is Taylor Swift Releasing TS12?
Heads up, travelers! If you're planning a trip to beautiful Lake Tahoe, be aware of potential traffic delays on U.S. 50. Lane reductions and shifts are resuming on July 13th as part of the Nevada Department of Transportation's highway repaving project. This construction, which began in April and took a break for the Fourth of July and the American Century Championship, will continue to impact travel times.
Lane Reductions and What to Expect
From July 13th through July 25th, U.S. 50 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between State Route 207 and Elks Point Road on Sundays at 8 p.m. through Fridays at noon. While one lane will remain open in each direction, expect moderate travel delays and reduced speeds of 35 mph through the work zone. All lanes will be open on weekends.
Access to businesses and residences will be maintained, but some side streets and driveways may be temporarily affected during roadway excavation. Steel plates and earthwork will be used to re-establish access.
Ongoing Overnight Lane Closures
Looking ahead, motorists should anticipate single lane closures on sections of U.S. 50 between Spooner Summit and the Nevada/California border at Stateline from Sundays at 8 p.m. through Fridays at noon, through October 2025, and again April through October 2026. A minimum of one lane in each direction will remain open, and speeds will be reduced to 35mph in work zones. Plan accordingly!
But that's not all that's trending around Lake Tahoe!
