South African MotoGP fans, buckle up! Marc Marquez has once again proven his dominance, clinching pole position at the Aragon Grand Prix in spectacular fashion. The Ducati rider shattered the lap record, securing his 99th career pole and fifth of the season. This sets the stage for an electrifying race on Sunday.

Marquez's Record-Breaking Performance

Marquez's blistering pace was evident from the start, becoming the first rider to dip below the one minute and 46-second barrier. While his brother, Alex Marquez of Gresini Racing, and VR46 Racing's Franco Morbidelli briefly challenged for the top spot, Marc ultimately unleashed an aggressive lap, his Ducati visibly sliding around the curves, to clock an incredible one minute and 45.704 seconds.

"The first lap with the first tyre was clean," Marquez commented. "I just did one lap and then I stopped because I was already (one minute and) 45.9 without exaggerating, but then I exaggerated too much (on my next attempt)." Despite admitting his lap wasn't the smoothest, the result speaks for itself.

The Race Ahead

Marquez's pole position places him in a prime spot to secure a record-extending seventh MotoGP victory at Aragon. However, the competition will be fierce. His teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, despite struggling with bike stability, managed to qualify fourth. Red Bull KTM's Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder will also be starting from the second row, ready to challenge for a podium finish.
