Sri Lanka Stuns Zimbabwe! Nissanka & Mendis Power Thrilling T20 Win!
Sri Lanka has drawn first blood in their T20 series against Zimbabwe, securing a nail-biting four-wicket victory in Harare. Pathum Nissanka continued his stellar form, following his impressive performances in the ODI series, with a rapid half-century. However, it was Kamindu Mendis' explosive late-innings hitting that ultimately sealed the deal for the visitors.
Bennett's Brilliance Not Enough for Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe posted a competitive total of 175-7 in their 20 overs, largely thanks to a magnificent 81 from opener Brian Bennett. Bennett's innings provided a solid foundation for the home side, but Sri Lanka's bowlers managed to restrict the scoring in the latter stages.
Nissanka's Consistency Shines Again
Pathum Nissanka, fresh off a successful ODI series where he scored a half-century and a century, once again proved his worth in the T20 format. His 55, his 15th T20 half-century, came off just 32 balls and included four boundaries and two towering sixes. However, his dismissal sparked a mini-collapse, with Sri Lanka losing four wickets for just 10 runs.
Mendis's Mighty Blows Secure Victory
With Sri Lanka in a spot of bother, Kamindu Mendis stepped up to the plate with an incredible unbeaten 41 off just 16 balls. Mendis smashed four massive sixes, turning the tide in Sri Lanka's favour. Dushan Hemantha provided valuable support with 14 not out, guiding Sri Lanka to 177-6 with five balls remaining.
