Proteas Spinner Subrayen Cleared to Bowl! What Happened?
Subrayen's Bowling Action: All Clear!
Proteas spinner Prenelan Subrayen is officially cleared to continue bowling in international cricket after an independent assessment of his bowling action. This follows a report filed during the first One Day International (ODI) against Australia in Cairns on August 19th.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed the results of the assessment. Subrayen underwent the evaluation at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on August 26th. The assessment focused on the extension of his elbow during deliveries.
The Verdict: Within Permitted Limits
The assessment revealed that the amount of elbow extension for all of Subrayen's deliveries was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations. This means his action is considered legal and he can continue to represent South Africa on the international stage.
This is good news for the Proteas, as Subrayen provides a valuable spin option in their bowling attack. His availability will be crucial as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures.
