Kaizer Chiefs: Nabi Reveals Squad Changes Ahead of Sekhukhune Clash!
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed some key squad updates as Amakhosi prepare to face Sekhukhune United. With a busy transfer window drawing to a close, Nabi confirmed that the club is looking to trim its squad size, ensuring players get sufficient game time.
The Glamour Boys have been active in the transfer market, bringing in a host of new faces to bolster their ranks. Some of these new additions are still awaiting their debut for the Soweto giants, who have enjoyed a promising start to the PSL season.
Squad Overhaul: Ins and Outs at Naturena
Chiefs have added an impressive 12 players to their first-team squad since the end of last season, including Nkanyiso Shinga, Flavio Silva, Ethan Chislett, Paseka Mako, Thabiso Monyane, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Asanele Velebayi, Luke Baartman, Etiosa Ighodaro, Lebohang Maboe, and most recently Khanyisa Mayo. Young talent Xolani Cossa, promoted from the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) side, has been loaned to Black Lions in Botswana.
However, there have also been significant departures. Ranga Chivaviro, Njabulo Blom, Sabelo Radebe, Edmilson Dove, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Yusuf Maart, Tebogo Potsane, Bongani Sam, Edson Castillo, and Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi have all left the club.
Nabi's Strategy: Balancing the Squad
Despite these exits, Chiefs still boast a large squad. “Yes, it is true that the squad is big,” Nabi acknowledged at a press conference. “The club is working on options to try to offload the squad, especially to give the possibility to some players that didn’t have the consistency or didn’t have enough time to get more time playing into other teams. And as well to some young players to get the experience needed in the PSL into other clubs.”
Amakhosi are back in action on Tuesday, hosting Sekhukhune United at the FNB Stadium in a crucial match. Fans will be eager to see how Nabi's squad adjustments impact the team's performance.
