Mo Salah Magic! Egypt Qualifies for 2026 FIFA World Cup!

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah was the hero once again as Egypt secured their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup! The Pharaohs cruised to a 3-0 victory over Djibouti in Casablanca, with Salah netting a brace to seal qualification with a game to spare.

Salah's Double Sends Egypt to the World Stage

Egypt needed just one win from their final two matches to guarantee top spot in Group A. Ibrahim Adel opened the scoring early on, heading in a cross from Zizo. Salah then doubled the lead, latching onto a through ball from Trezeguet and slotting home.

Despite facing scrutiny for his form this season, Salah remained a constant threat, almost setting up a third goal before half-time. He capped off his performance with a stunning late goal, a beautiful lob over the goalkeeper.

Third African Nation to Qualify

Egypt joins Morocco and Tunisia as the third African nation to book their spot at the 2026 World Cup. This will be Egypt's fourth appearance at the tournament, having previously qualified in 1934, 1990, and 2018.

While Egypt boasts a record seven Africa Cup of Nations titles, they have often struggled to translate that success into World Cup qualification. This year, however, they have secured their place with a dominant performance in their group.

Elsewhere in African qualifying, Burkina Faso kept their hopes alive with a win over Sierra Leone, while Cape Verde missed an opportunity to qualify after a draw against Libya. The race for the remaining qualification spots is heating up!
