DStv is bringing back a much-loved South African tradition: Open Time! To celebrate 30 years since its launch in 1995, DStv is giving all decoder customers a taste of the high life with free Premium access for one glorious weekend in November 2025.
DStv Open Time: What to Expect
From 7-9 November 2025, active DStv satellite subscribers can unlock every Premium channel at no extra cost. Think sport, movies, entertainment – the whole shebang! This is a clear move by MultiChoice to tempt existing customers to upgrade and attract new subscribers to the platform.
This announcement follows Groupe Canal+'s recent acquisition of MultiChoice Group, leading to changes in management as the French broadcaster asserts its influence.
A Weekend of Sporting Spectacles
The "Open Time" event coincides with a jam-packed sporting weekend. Get ready to cheer on the Springboks as they take on France, witness the clash between Manchester City and Liverpool, and experience the thrill of the Brazilian Grand Prix, all from the comfort of your couch.

Decoder Price Cuts and Premium Perks
But that's not all! MultiChoice is also slashing decoder prices from 1 November – by 30% in retail and by over 40% via the new online DStv Store. Plus, Premium customers get extra perks, including two additional all-device streams for November and December, a new concierge support service, and expanded rewards like BoxOffice movie rentals, event access, and travel prizes tied to major sporting events.
