Johannesburg - The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has announced a leadership reshuffle. Vuyo Zungula will no longer hold the position of president, with the party citing a need for him to concentrate on his duties within Parliament.

Professor Ceaser Nongqunga Takes the Helm

Professor Ceaser Nongqunga, also the chief apostle of the Twelve Apostles Church in Christ, has been appointed as the new president of the ATM. This decision comes as the party aims to bolster its growth and expand its influence across South Africa.

Why the Change?

The ATM's national executive committee (NEC) believes that dividing the roles of parliamentary duties and organizational leadership is crucial at this juncture. Zungula's dedication to holding President Cyril Ramaphosa accountable in the Phala Phala scandal, despite the ATM's limited representation in Parliament (only two seats), has highlighted his effectiveness in the legislative arena.

The NEC believes that Nongqunga's leadership will allow the ATM to strengthen its organisational footprint and attract new members. The party hopes that Nongqunga will focus on engaging with communities, building relationships with key stakeholders, and developing strategies for future electoral success. Zungula will now dedicate his time to legislative matters, debates, and holding the executive accountable, while Nongqunga will manage the party's internal affairs and external outreach.

The ATM believes this strategic restructuring will benefit the party's overall performance and allow it to effectively pursue its goals both inside and outside of Parliament. This will allow the party to grow their support base.
