England vs New Zealand: Archer Back! Black Caps Bowl First!

HAMILTON, New Zealand – Get ready for some cricket action! New Zealand won the toss after a slight rain delay and elected to bowl against England in the second One-Day International at Seddon Park. The toss was delayed by just over 50 minutes due to light rain, but thankfully, fine and cool weather is expected for the rest of the match.

Remember the first ODI at Mount Maunganui? England stumbled early, finding themselves at a precarious 56-6. However, captain Harry Brook smashed a brilliant 135, including 11 sixes, to help them reach a total of 223. New Zealand chased it down with four wickets to spare, thanks to an unbeaten 78 from Daryl Mitchell.

The Seddon Park pitch has been under covers for the past two days due to rain, which could mean some early movement for the New Zealand seam bowlers. It will be interesting to see if they can exploit the conditions early on.

New Zealand has made one change to their lineup, bringing back pace bowler Blair Tickner for his first ODI since 2023. He replaces Matt Henry, who's nursing a minor calf injury. England welcomes back Jofra Archer to their pace attack, replacing Luke Wood.

Team Lineups:

  • New Zealand: Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (captain), Nathan Smith, Zak Foulkes, Blair Tickner, Jacob Duffy.
  • England: Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook (captain), Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer.
