Bafana Bafana bounced back in style at the COSAFA Cup, securing a vital 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in their second Group A match. Following a disappointing loss to Mozambique, this win significantly boosts South Africa's chances of reaching the semi-finals.

Coach Vela Khumalo made several changes to the starting lineup, bringing in Kwanda Mngonyama, Siyanda Msani, Masindi Nemtajela, and Boitumelo Radiopane. The fresh legs injected much-needed energy into the squad.

Radiopane was a constant threat upfront, nearly opening the scoring early on, but Zimbabwean goalkeeper Martin Mapisa proved a formidable obstacle. Kabelo Dlamini also tested Mapisa with a powerful half-volley, forcing another impressive save.

Zimbabwe suffered an early blow with Simbarashe Takaedza forced off through injury, replaced by Kurainashe Musanhi. However, Bafana Bafana capitalized on their dominance when Nemtajela was fouled in the box, earning a penalty. Dlamini confidently stepped up and converted, putting South Africa ahead 1-0.

Kamogelo Sebelebele almost doubled the lead before halftime, but Mapisa was again equal to the task.

Nemtajela continued to be a handful for the Zimbabwean defense, but missed a golden opportunity early in the second half. The crucial second goal arrived in the 78th minute when Ime Okon rose unchallenged to head home a curling free-kick, making it 2-0.

Late substitutions by Coach Khumalo, including Athenkosi Mcaba and Victor Letsoalo, aimed to secure the victory. Letsoalo almost made an immediate impact, but his shot was blocked. Bafana Bafana held on for a well-deserved 2-0 win.

The victory was secured by goals from Orlando Pirates' Kabelo Dlamini and Kaizer Chiefs-linked defender Ime Okon.

South Africa: Mbanjwa, Msani, Okon, McCarthy, Moralo, Dlamini, Mgonyama, Nemtajela, Sebelebele, Mkhize. Radiopane

This win puts Bafana Bafana back on track in the COSAFA Cup and raises hopes for a successful tournament.
