New Bedford Mourns: Two Teenagers Killed in Route 140 Crash
New Bedford, Massachusetts is in mourning after a devastating single-vehicle crash on Route 140 South claimed the lives of two teenagers early Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred near the 2.1-mile marker around 2:00 AM, has left the community reeling.
According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, police responded to a 911 call reporting the crash and discovered a 2019 Honda Civic with extensive damage on the passenger side. The vehicle had veered off the road and into a wooded area.
Tragically, two occupants had been ejected from the car. A 17-year-old male from West Yarmouth was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old female, also ejected, was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
An 18-year-old male from Dartmouth, who was also in the vehicle, was hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Authorities have not released the names of the victims at this time.
Massachusetts State Police and the Bristol District Attorney's office are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
