Lions centre Bronson Mills appeared in court on Wednesday following an alleged assault incident in Cape Town. The 22-year-old handed himself over to police after the accusations surfaced.
According to News24, Mills is accused of assaulting Cape Town student Marumo Selane at a house gathering in the early hours of Monday, October 27th. Selane has provided a detailed statement outlining his version of the events.
The Alleged Incident
Selane claims the incident occurred around 4 am at a friend’s house in Cape Town. He stated, "While there, I was accused by an individual named Bronson Mills of stealing salmon from the refrigerator. I did not plan on stealing the fish, and I told him that directly."
Escalation and Alleged Assault
Selane alleges that the situation quickly escalated. "Bronson became extremely aggressive. He dragged me out of the house, verbally abused me, and physically assaulted me," he stated.
He further claims, "He punched me multiple times in the face, threw me to the ground, and kicked me while swearing and shouting. I repeatedly told him to stop and apologised out of fear for my safety."
Injuries and Allegations of Substance Abuse
Selane listed his injuries as a black eye, a bruised forehead, blood in one eye, a swollen lip, cheek and jaw, and multiple cuts on his face, knees, and wrists.
He also alleges that Mills was under the influence of drugs during the altercation. "Bronson has a known history of violence and substance abuse, including cocaine use, and has assaulted others in the past under similar circumstances. On the night he attacked me, he was under the influence of cocaine and alcohol."
The case is currently ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the legal proceedings unfold. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
