The Springbok Sevens team, affectionately known as the Blitzboks, are ramping up their preparations for the highly anticipated HSBC SVNS Cape Town tournament, set to ignite the DHL Stadium on December 6th and 7th. Coach Philip Snyman has expressed his satisfaction with the squad's progress during their pre-season training, emphasizing the importance of integrating returning players and newcomers into the team's dynamic system.
Blitzboks Fine-Tune Strategies Ahead of Dubai and Cape Town
Following a productive local tournament in Stellenbosch and a team-building session in Caledon, the Blitzboks are laser-focused on the Emirates Dubai Sevens, scheduled for November 29-30. This tournament serves as a crucial warm-up before they defend their title on home soil at the HSBC SVNS Cape Town.
"This block was crucial for us," Snyman stated. "We needed to get game time for the players returning from 15s duties and integrate the new players. The tournament in Stellenbosch was vital for that, and I'm pleased with the outcome. The 12 matches against Germany also helped us get into shape."
Team Culture and Leadership Remain Key
The Blitzboks are renowned for their strong team culture, and Snyman highlighted the importance of reinforcing their value system during the Caledon session. He also acknowledged the valuable contribution of Renfred Dazel, who will be assisting him this season.
"We're fortunate to have a strong leadership group and Renfred Dazel's presence is invaluable. His technical knowledge and experience as a former Blitzbok are a huge asset," Snyman added.
