Tragedy Strikes Limpopo: Vincent Maphopha Laid to Rest After Kharishma Accident
The Limpopo province is in mourning following the death of Vincent Maphopha (23) in a vehicle collision involving popular musician Kharishma, whose real name is Melita Ribane. The accident occurred on October 31st at the intersection of Grobler and Magazyn streets in Polokwane.
Maphopha's hatchback collided with a bakkie. Kharishma sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalised. Sadly, Vincent Maphopha succumbed to his injuries.
His funeral, held in Groblersdal, was attended by dignitaries including the MEC of Sport, Arts and Culture, Funani Maseko, and members of the Limpopo Artists Movement, chaired by Mphoza Mashabela. Rhodes Msiza, representing the University of Limpopo, was also present.
Vincent was a final-year B.Sc student at the University of Limpopo, balancing his passion for music with his studies in animal production. He was known as a talented keyboard player and had worked closely with Kharishma.

Mourners at the funeral noted the absence of Kharishma’s family and her team, Kharishma Entertainment. Attempts to contact her team were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
Vincent's obituary described him as 'full of life,' highlighting his impact on those around him. He is survived by his mother, grandmother, two siblings, and cousins.
Mphoza Mashabela reflected on Vincent's legacy, stating that his passing leaves a deep void in both his family and the music community. The entertainment industry is deeply saddened by the loss of such a promising young talent.
