Football fans in Peterborough and Stockport are holding their breath as Storm Claudia threatens to disrupt their League One clash. The highly anticipated match between Peterborough United and Stockport County, scheduled for Thursday evening, is potentially at risk of postponement due to the severe weather conditions sweeping across the UK.
Storm Claudia's Impact on League One
Peterborough United, revitalized under new boss Luke Williams with three consecutive wins, face a tough challenge against league leaders Stockport County. However, Storm Claudia's arrival has cast a shadow over the game. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for large parts of the East Coast, including areas near Peterborough, forecasting snow and ice.
Potential Postponement Looms
While Peterborough sits just outside the current warning region, there's a real possibility that the adverse weather conditions could extend, leading to a postponement. Even if the game proceeds, the players and fans may have to endure seriously affected conditions. In addition to Peterborough vs Stockport, Ipswich Town’s Championship clash with Wrexham is also at risk. Already, Exeter City vs Burton Albion has been postponed.
Peterborough will be without key defenders Rio Adebisi, George Nevett and Sam Hughes, while midfielder Matt Garbett is being assessed after international duty with New Zealand. Stockport County welcomes back Owen Dodgson from suspension and Benony Breki Andresson after international duty.
Key Player Transfers
Peterborough notably lost Kwame Poke to QPR and Emmanuel Fernandez to Rangers during the summer transfer window. Stockport County signed Jamaica international Malik Mothersille from Peterborough for a club record fee.
Manager Dave Challinor has done a fantastic job managing Stockport. The match is scheduled for Thursday evening at 8pm at the Weston Homes Stadium.
