Dané van Niekerk Back in Proteas Women Squad!

Former Proteas Women's captain, Dané van Niekerk, is making a sensational return to the national squad after a lengthy absence! Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced the T20 International (T20I) and One-Day International (ODI) squads for the upcoming white-ball tour against Ireland, scheduled from 5 - 19 December across various South African cities.

This comeback follows impressive performances for WSB Western Province, signaling a renewed commitment to the Proteas Women's team. At 32 years old, her experience and leadership will undoubtedly be valuable assets as the team prepares for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England.

"Dané’s return is a result of her notable domestic form, where she has shown consistency and skill. We look forward to her contribution across both formats,” said Proteas Women Convenor of Selectors, Clinton du Preez.

The T20I squad also welcomes back top-order batter Faye Tunnicliffe, recognized for her excellent form in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series, and legspinner Seshnie Naidu, who was involved in the lead-up to last year’s T20 World Cup. They will join captain Laura Wolvaardt and other key players such as Suné Luus, Marizanne Kapp, and Chloé Tryon.
