PSV Dominate Volendam! Veerman & Pepi Shine After Liverpool Thrashing!

PSV continued their impressive form with a dominant 2-0 victory over FC Volendam in the Eredivisie. Just days after their stunning 4-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League, Peter Bosz's side showed no signs of fatigue, controlling the game from start to finish.

Early Goals Set the Tone

Joey Veerman opened the scoring early, finding the net against his former club in the 6th minute. Ricardo Pepi then doubled the lead with a spectacular overhead kick in the 25th minute, capping off a period of intense pressure from PSV.

Bosz Forced to Make Changes

Due to injuries and illness, Bosz had to reshuffle his lineup. The absence of Perisic saw Saibari move to the left flank, with Guus Til dropping into midfield and Pepi leading the line. Anass Salah-Eddine's illness meant Mauro Júnior filled in at left-back, opening a spot in midfield for Wanner. Esmir Bajraktarevic started on the right wing, preferred over Dennis Man.

Volendam Struggles to Cope

Volendam, currently struggling near the bottom of the table, found it difficult to contain PSV's attacking prowess. While they managed a few counter-attacks, they rarely threatened Kovar in the PSV goal. Henk Veerman came close to scoring, but his shot sailed just over the bar.

  • PSV Starting XI: Kovar; Dest, Schouten, Gasiorowski, Mauro Júnior; Wanner, Til, Veerman; Bajraktarevic, Pepi, Saibari.
  • Volendam Starting XI: Van Oevelen; Payne, Amevor, Verschuren, Leliendal; Kuwas, Yak, Bukala, Meijers; Veerman, Descotte.

PSV will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of the Eredivisie table, while Volendam will need to improve their away form if they are to avoid relegation.
