Rassie Stays! Springboks Coach Signs HUGE Deal 'til 2031!

Big news for South African rugby fans! Rassie Erasmus, the mastermind behind the Springboks' recent successes, has signed a massive contract extension, keeping him at the helm until the end of the 2031 Rugby World Cup. This announcement secures Erasmus' leadership as the Springboks aim for an unprecedented third consecutive World Cup title in 2027.

Erasmus, who is 53, expressed his commitment to South Africa, stating, "This was a quick and easy conversation to reach agreement. I have always said that I would find it hard to coach any other international team, and I'm very happy to continue as long as the South African public wants me."

Summer Series Announced!

Adding to the excitement, the Springboks have revealed their summer schedule, featuring a highly anticipated clash with England at Johannesburg's Ellis Park on 4 July. The altitude of Ellis Park, nearly 1,800m above sea level, will undoubtedly be a factor.

South Africa will also face Scotland at Pretoria's Loftus Versfeld (1350m up) and Wales in coastal Durban on 11 and 18 July respectively, as part of the new Nations Championship.

Rassie's Impact: From Sixth to World Champions

Erasmus' impact on South African rugby has been nothing short of transformative. Appointed as director of rugby in March 2018, he inherited a team that had fallen to sixth in the world rankings. Under his guidance, the Springboks rapidly ascended to become a dominant force, winning the Rugby Championship and the Rugby World Cup in 2019.

Despite rumours linking him to the England coaching job after the 2019 World Cup, Erasmus remained committed to South Africa. His continued leadership promises a bright future for the Springboks.
