Mzansi's buzzing about the potential return of Dr. Trey MacDougal to 'And Just Like That...'! Kyle MacLachlan, the actor who famously played Charlotte York's first husband on 'Sex and the City', has revealed he wasn't entirely happy with the initial plans for his character's comeback.

Speaking to Us Weekly, MacLachlan explained that while he'd "love to come back and have fun", he felt the writers' original idea for Trey's storyline needed more depth. "And what they suggested to me, I said, ‘I think there should be more,’” he said. “So I just said, ‘I wonder, if the relationship that Charlotte and Trey had demands a little more than their first idea.’”

What Happened to Trey?

For those who need a refresher, Trey was a cardiologist who seemed like the perfect catch for Charlotte. However, their relationship was plagued by intimacy issues and the meddling of Trey's overbearing mother, Bunny. He appeared in Seasons 3 and 4 of 'Sex and the City'.

MacLachlan's Vision for Trey

MacLachlan even pitched his own idea for Trey's current life, suggesting he might have moved to Napa Valley and become a successful winemaker. Sounds like a tasty plot twist, right?

The original 'Sex and the City' ran from 1998 to 2004, following the lives and loves of Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York, and Miranda Hobbes in New York City. 'And Just Like That...' picks up with the characters in their 50s, navigating new challenges and relationships.

Samantha's Absence and Potential Returns

While Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones has largely been absent from the reboot (aside from a cameo in Season 2), the door seems open for other familiar faces to reappear. Will MacLachlan's vision for Trey convince the writers to give him a more substantial role? Only time will tell! For now, fans are left wondering what could have been, and hoping for a future Napa Valley-themed episode.
