Bolton Manager Unveils Strategy for Orlando Pirates Clash

Bolton Wanderers manager Steven Schumacher has disclosed his team's tactical approach for their highly anticipated friendly match against Orlando Pirates. The League One side is set to face the Buccaneers in Marbella, Spain, marking the Soweto giants' inaugural pre-season game and the debut for their new coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou, who succeeds Spaniard Jose Riveiro.

With both teams diligently preparing for Friday's friendly, Schumacher shared insights into his team's setup for the Pirates encounter. Speaking to the club's website, the 41-year-old manager revealed his intention to field two distinct teams, one for each half of the match. However, he acknowledged facing injury concerns within his squad.

Key players like Kyle Dempsey, Victor Adeboyejo, Will Forrester, and Sam Dalby will be absent for the game against Pirates. Schumacher emphasized the significance of pre-season camps in fostering team cohesion.

"There are loads of different reasons why you'd try and come on one of these camps, but the main reason is to spend some quality time with the players," Schumacher stated. "It's important that we spend as much time as we can getting organised on the pitch, but just getting to know them off the pitch is key as well. So, little conversations that you have on the walk down to and from the training pitch can tell you things that you didn't know, and you can use going through the season," he added.

Reflecting on the pre-season preparations, Schumacher remarked: "It’s been a good couple of days. The weather's been unusually hot here, but it's been good and the lads have enjoyed it. We've had some really good training sessions, and so far the week's gone well. It's been tough, but they're enjoying it."

The match promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams fine-tune their strategies ahead of their respective league campaigns.
