England Through to Euro 2025 Semis After Penalty Drama!
The England Lionesses have booked their place in the Euro 2025 semi-finals after an absolutely nail-biting penalty shootout victory against Sweden. The match, filled with twists and turns, saw England come back from behind twice to eventually triumph 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Sweden started strong, with Kosovare Asllani scoring early to put them ahead. Stina Blackstenius, who's having a fantastic summer, then added another, leaving England reeling. At half-time, things looked bleak for the Lionesses, who seemed to be repeating the mistakes they made in their opening game against France.
However, the Lionesses showed incredible resilience. Late goals brought the game back to level terms, forcing extra time and ultimately, penalties. The shootout was a rollercoaster, with both goalkeepers making crucial saves. In the end, England held their nerve to secure a dramatic win.
Arsenal players played a key role in the comeback! Chloe Kelly came off the bench to provide an assist, a pre-assist and score in the penalty shootout. Michelle Agyemang also scored the equaliser, assisted by Beth Mead, another substitute.
