FC Seoul SHOCKS Ulsan! Lingard Scores in Historic Win!
FC Seoul has broken their Ulsan HD jinx, securing their first victory against them in a staggering 23 matches! The historic win came in the 22nd round of the K League 1 2025 season, with Seoul triumphing 1-0 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on July 20th.
Tactical Lineups
Seoul started with a 4-4-1-1 formation, featuring Klimala leading the attack and Jesse Lingard providing support. The midfield was anchored by Hwang Do-yoon and Jung Seung-won, with Moon Sun-min and Andersson playing as left and right midfielders. The defensive line comprised Kim Joo-sung, Yazan, Kim Jin-soo, and Choi Joon, with Kang Hyun-moo in goal.
Ulsan countered with a 3-4-3 formation, with Eric spearheading the attack, supported by Rubik'sson and Lee Jin-hyun. Bojanic and Ko Seung-beom controlled the midfield, while Cho Hyun-taek and Yoon Jae-seok operated as wingbacks. Kim Young-kwon, Trojac, and Seo Myung-kwan formed the three-man defence, with Cho Hyun-woo guarding the net.
A Tense Battle
The match was a tightly contested affair, with both teams struggling to break the deadlock. Ulsan threatened first with a low, fast shot from Rubik'sson that narrowly missed the target. Lingard responded with a powerful shot that was saved by Ulsan's goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo.
Lingard's Decisive Goal
The deadlock was finally broken in the 42nd minute when Hwang Do-yoon's header found Lingard, who controlled the ball with his chest before unleashing a decisive shot into the back of the net. The stadium erupted as Lingard celebrated his fantastic goal.
Coach Kim's Andersson Expectations
FC Seoul coach Kim Ki-dong had earlier expressed his optimism about Andersson's debut, noting his dedication and professionalism. "He is a player who silently puts everything into what he has to do. There was a sense of responsibility from the training ground," Kim said.
League Standings
With this victory, Seoul improves their standing in the K League 1, although they remain in the bottom half of the table. Ulsan, despite the loss, are still positioned slightly higher in the league standings.
