Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly secured the services of Stellenbosch FC defender Fawaaz Basadien! The Brazilians have moved swiftly to bolster their defensive options with the highly-rated Bafana Bafana international.
Sundowns Win Race for Basadien
After a stellar season with Stellenbosch, where he made 46 appearances and contributed significantly with seven goals and eight assists, Basadien has attracted considerable attention from top PSL clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. However, it's Sundowns who have ultimately won the race for his signature.
According to reports, Sundowns and Stellenbosch have reached a club-to-club agreement for an undisclosed transfer fee. The 28-year-old left-back is expected to travel to Gauteng in the coming days to finalize the move to the Tshwane giants.
A Key Addition to Sundowns
Basadien's impressive performances for Stellenbosch, including his role in their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final run, have made him a valuable asset. He has also cemented his place in Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana squad, playing a crucial role in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. His versatility and attacking prowess from the left-back position will undoubtedly strengthen Sundowns' already formidable squad.
