F1 Pays Tribute: Anthoine Hubert & Dilano Remembered in Heartfelt Spa Race
Spa-Francorchamps, the legendary circuit, has become a place of remembrance. The motorsport community united this past weekend to honour Anthoine Hubert, who tragically died in 2019, and Dilano van't Hoff, who lost his life on the same track in 2023.
A Touching Tribute: Racing 'For Anthoine and Dilano'
Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, a symbolic race took place, organised by Pierre Gasly, bringing together drivers, engineers, mechanics, and journalists. All participants wore shirts that read 'Racing for Anthoine'.
The emotional scene showed the motorsport community united by something stronger than competition: memory. Social media captions read: 'For Anthoine and Dilano', honouring both young talents.
Fans commented with words like: 'Gasly is such a nice person,' 'The guy with a big heart,' and 'Forever in our hearts,' showcasing the impact of the tribute.
Gasly's Haunting Memories of Spa
Pierre Gasly revealed it feels “very strange” racing at Spa, balancing the excitement of the track with the haunting memories of Anthoine Hubert’s fatal crash.
Gasly said, "It’s always been one of my favourites... and since 2019 something has changed, obviously drastically... So it’s always a very strange one like that. You can’t really describe it, between the excitement of being on the track and obviously the memories that come with it."
He added, "But at the end of the day, I just try to use this as extra strength and just get some more power and strength out of it."
The FIA continues to focus on improving F1 safety measures to prevent future tragedies.
