India Rocks England! Thrilling Test Series Down to the Wire!
India Fights Back in England Test Series!
The fifth and deciding Test between England and India at the Oval is proving to be a nail-biter! After a shaky start, India's bowlers, led by Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj, roared back into contention on Day 2.
England, replying to India's first innings total of 224, looked set to build a substantial lead. However, Krishna (4-62) and Siraj (4-86) ripped through the English batting lineup, dismissing them for just 247 – a slender lead of only 23 runs.
Earlier in the day, Crawley and Duckett had given England a flying start with a rapid 92-run opening partnership. But the introduction of Krishna and Siraj changed the complexion of the game dramatically.
Jaiswal Leads India's Charge
At the close of play on Day 2, India were 75-2 in their second innings, extending their lead to 52 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, dropped twice, remained unbeaten on 51, cashing in on his luck with a quickfire half-century. He completed his fifty off just 44 balls, smashing Jamie Overton for six over the slips.
India will be hoping Jaiswal can continue his form on Day 3 and build a significant lead. However, they will be wary of England's bowling attack, especially with Gus Atkinson back in the side and looking dangerous.
Woakes Injury a Blow for England
England are a bowler down due to Chris Woakes' injury, potentially giving India a slight advantage. The series is currently level, so this Test is crucial for both teams. The winner will take home the trophy and bragging rights in what has been one of the most exciting series in England since the 2005 Ashes.
