The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has issued a stern warning to its members regarding their online behaviour, specifically concerning the creation and sharing of explicit content while in uniform. This comes after a video of an SANDF member performing a striptease in uniform went viral, sparking outrage and prompting the official response.
Respect the Uniform, Respect the Force
According to the SANDF, such behaviour directly contravenes its code of conduct and poses a significant threat to the reputation of the entire military. SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini emphasised the importance of respecting the uniform, stating, "You cannot express yourself in uniform. Remember the uniform is not yours; you don’t own the uniform. The uniform is paraphernalia given to you by the SANDF, which in the end becomes government property."
