Galaxy vs Sounders: Clash of Titans! Will History Repeat Itself?
Galaxy Host Sounders in Highly Anticipated MLS Showdown!
The LA Galaxy are set to host the Seattle Sounders in a thrilling MLS regular season match at Dignity Health Sports Park. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT, and fans can catch all the action on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, FS1, FOX Deportes, 93.3 KJR FM, and El Rey 1360AM.
Galaxy fans will have even more to celebrate as the club honors the 20th anniversary of their 2005 MLS Cup championship team before and during the game. The 2005 squad, featuring stars like Landon Donovan and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, overcame regular-season struggles to capture both the U.S. Open Cup and MLS Cup, etching their names in Galaxy history.
“It was a group that during the regular season didn’t have a ton of success,” said Hartman, now the Galaxy's goalkeeper coach. He recalls key meetings where players took ownership and accountability, ultimately fueling their playoff run.
Roldan Reaches Milestone!
For the Seattle Sounders, midfielder Cristian Roldan is poised to make his 300th regular-season appearance, a remarkable achievement that places him among the Sounders' elite, alongside Stefan Frei (343).
Sounders Head Coach Brian Schmetzer has made several changes to the starting lineup, with Nouhou, Kim Kee-hee, Alex Roldan, Pedro de la Vega, Paul Rothrock, and Danny Musovski stepping in. They replace Jackson Ragen, Kalani Kossa-Rienzi, Reed Baker-Whiting, Albert Rusnák, Ryan Kent, and Osaze De Rosario.
The last encounter between these two powerhouses was in the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Final, where the Galaxy emerged victorious with a 1-0 win before ultimately claiming the 2024 MLS Cup.
Will the Galaxy's history and home-field advantage give them the edge? Or will Roldan's milestone and the Sounders' revamped lineup lead them to victory? Tune in to find out!
