Eid Mubarak to all Muslims in Ghana and around the world! As we approach Eid-ul-Adha 2025, it’s a time for reflection, celebration, and togetherness. This year, the global Islamic community is expected to celebrate the Festival of Sacrifice on Friday, June 6th, 2025. It's a significant day in the Islamic calendar, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's unwavering faith and willingness to obey Allah's command.

Understanding Eid-ul-Adha

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the two most important Islamic holidays. It falls on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, marking the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage. The day reminds us of the importance of submission to Allah and the spirit of selflessness.

Taqwa: The Essence of Eid

A key aspect of Eid-ul-Adha is the concept of Taqwa, which translates to piety, fear of Allah, and righteousness. The sacrifice performed during Eid isn't merely a ritual; it's a symbolic act meant to strengthen our Taqwa and bring us closer to Allah. It’s a reminder to live our lives in accordance with His teachings.

Dr. Abubakari Mohammed Marzuq Azindoo highlights that the ultimate objective of the sacrifice is to revive Taqwa. Taqwa means fearing Allah, complying with the Quran, being content with what we have, and preparing for death. It also means acting according to Allah’s will in anticipation of His reward and avoiding anything that offends Him for fear of His punishment.

Celebrating in Ghana and Beyond

In Ghana, as in many parts of the world, Muslims prepare for Eid with prayers, feasts, and acts of charity. It's a time for families to come together, share meals, and exchange gifts. Many will attend special Eid prayers at mosques and community centers. Let us remember to share the joy and blessings of this occasion with those less fortunate.

As Eid-ul-Adha 2025 approaches, may Allah accept our sacrifices, forgive our sins, and bless us with peace, happiness, and prosperity. Eid Mubarak!
