A devastating fire in Hong Kong's Tai Po neighbourhood has claimed the lives of a firefighter and three other people. The blaze, which engulfed multiple blocks of the Wang Fuk Court housing estate, also left several residents trapped.

The fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court, a housing complex in the New Territories undergoing renovation. The estate, home to approximately 4,000 residents across 1,984 flats, was quickly consumed by flames that spread rapidly across bamboo scaffolding.
Police received numerous reports of people trapped inside the building where the fire originated. Initial reports indicated that at least one man and woman were found unconscious and suffering from severe burns. Plumes of thick, dark smoke filled the sky, visible for miles around.
