Two marching bands, one from Arizona and one with members from Pennsylvania, made headlines at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City! The Northern Arizona University (NAU) Lumberjacks, the first college marching band from Arizona to perform in the iconic parade, brought their energy and Arizona spirit to the Big Apple.
Lumberjacks Make History
"It's truly been magical and a dream come true," said Sebastian Cisneros-Ortega, an NAU junior and drum major. The Lumberjacks even warmed up in Central Park, drawing enthusiastic crowds. "The crowd just grew bigger and bigger and bigger, and we were all sitting there, like, oh my gosh! They're here to see us and what Arizona has to offer," Sebastian added.
Temple University's Debut
Temple University's Diamond Marching Band, including two graduates from Manheim Township, also made their debut at the parade. This performance marked the band's 100th anniversary, adding extra significance to their participation. "Every band kid wishes to have this moment in their life. And man, am I like. We’re all so blessed," one of the band members shared.
